Subversion Repository Opened
We have just finished the structure of our FLOSSMetrics repository. Feel free to start using it.

FLOSSMETRICS was presented at the Research Room @ FOSDEM, by Jesus M. Gonzales-Barahona. In the same session, other projects in the area of libre software and quality were also presented. An interesting discussion followed presentations, discussing specific issues about the impact of these projects on libre software development, and on how to improve that impact.
Carlo Daffara has been estimating, in the context of the FLOSSMetrics project, the number of active and stable libre (free, open source) software projects. He estimates that a lower bound for this number is about 18,000 (considering only those in the global libre software community, some more regional or local projects do exist). A good share of them will be studied in detail by the FLOSSMetrics projects...
The first version of the web interface for accesing the data about projects anlyzed by FLOSSMetrics is now online. Have a look at http://data.flossmetrics.org. It is still in an early stage, so expect problems (but seems to be pretty much usable, anyway). SVN data for +60 projects is already available, with more (and more kinds of repositories) coming soon. Comments, suggestions and bug reports are more than welcome.
We are happy to announce that GNOME metaproject has been added into the FLOSSMetrics database. A total of 68 new products that compose the GNOME Desktop core have been included. This list includes products such as Evince, Evolution, gedit, Metacity, Nautilus and so on.
Stay tuned, more projects will added soon.
For more information, please visit our site or our database site.
"As part of its research funding activities the European Commission has been funding research into Free, Libre and Open Source software (FOSS) for a number of years. Many projects make use of existing FOSS. Some focus on FOSS itself, seeking to improve the technologies used and to remove barriers for adoption and use."
These projects are highlighted in the next leaflet
Due to organizational issues at GSyC/LibreSoft, a new set up is now used for the FLOSSMetrics infrastructure. Now, it is heavily based on virtualization, which will provide the project with more flexibility about the resources used.
Hopefully, users of the data provided by the project won't notice a change, except those with direct access to the database. For them, direct access to the database is back on-line. Contact us for details.
We are glad to announce that FLOSSMetrics aggregated databases are available for downloading in the next link
The SCM database only contains data from 100 projects (including GNOME
projects with all of their metrics), and not the full set of projects
which have SCM repositories. The reason of this is we are regenerating and
updating the rest of the SCM databases to the final cvsanaly2 schema.
The MLS and TRK databases aggregate data from all the available
databases (of its type) in the server.
More information on the Melquiades wiki.
A set of 500 projects have been analysed with CVSAnalY2 tool. The resulting databases include all the code metrics for each revision and are available via Melquiades web interface or through the database server.
More projects will be analysed during the next weeks.
A new version of the SCM aggregated database is now available. You can donwload the MySQL dump from the next link: fm3_aggregated_scm-2009-06-02
Old versions are still available in Melquiades repository.

We are glad to announce the new features that are available for all Melquiades users already: the Melquiades API and the Advanced Search iterface
During last few months we have been working on improving the performance and the site's data accessibility. Past releases showed a lack of friendly search based on certain criteria, and for this reason, we decided to create an API and a search interface that solved this issue.
Melquiades API allows to get all the data that are currently stored in the website with simple queries. Using some filters such as the available repositories or available dumps of a project you will obtain the data that you need. These data are also available in several formats: HTML, XML or JSON.
For a full description of this API please visit the API section of the Melquiades wiki.
Stay tuned. During next weeks we will add more features like RSS channels and some interfaces for visualizing data.
