Third International Workshop on Public Data about Software Development

WoPDaSD 2008

FLOSSMetrics is pleased to announce the Third International Workshop on Public Data about Software Development (WoPDaSD 2008). This workshop will be held September 10th 2008 in Milan (Italy) colocated with The 4th International Conference on Open Source Systems (OSS2008).

The goal of this workshop is to foster the analysis of public available data sources about software development, and the exchange of data between different research groups. Due to this fact, a requirement given by the WoPDaSD workshop was to analyse two libre software data collections, where we can find FLOSSMetrics and FLOSSMole. These results will be available soon in the website.

FLOSSMetrics sponsorises this workshop jointly other EC-funded projects in the area of quality and libre software, and by FLOSSMole initiative.

For more information, please visit the workshop website.

Deliverable D8.1.2 "Guide for SMEs" released

The new version of the FLOSSMetrics Guide for SMEs has been released.

From its executive summary: "FLOSS (Free/Libre open source software) is one of the most important trends in IT since the advent of the PC and commodity software, but despite the potential impact on European firms, its adoption is still hampered by limited knowledge, especially among SMEs that could potentially benefit the most from it. This guide present a set guidelines and suggestions for the adoption of open source software within SMEs, using a ladder model that will guide companies from the initial selection and adoption of FLOSS within the IT infrastructure up to the creation of suitable business models based on open source software."

Comments and suggestions for the final version are welcome!
